BETAMAXX at the San Marcos Wood House

What can I say about BETAMAXX. They were the first band I ever photographed many, many months ago in March of 2022! They were performing at my wife's high school, Rancho Bernardo High, and one of the rotating members of the band is no other than her very own prinicipal, Hans Becker. My wife asked if I would like to attend the show and got permission for me to bring my camera to take some shots.

I had no idea what I was doing, what to look for, how to expose properly for the extremely dark scene that I was presented with, but I had a great time, and learned that shooting a concert couldn't be more far removed from shooting real estate! Needless to say, the band loved the shots and I took that as an opportunity to reach out to them to see if it was possible for me to shoot any future shows that I had time to attend.

Since then, I've been fortunate enough to photograph the band at the Lake San Marcos Summer Concert Series show, Fiesta Del Sol Music Festival, Allied Gardens Summer Concert Series, Civita Park Summer Concert Series, The Belly Up Tavern, and most recently at the San Marcos Wood House on 10.02.22.

BETAMAXX never fails to deliver a high-energy show, full of non-stop 80's hits form start to finish. Every member of the band is an extremely accomplished musician in their own right, and it shows at every performance.

Next up for me and the band, is this Saturday, 11.05.22, at the New Children's Museum in downtown San Diego for the museum's "Circus Spectacular" gala, where the band will be the featured show of the night. I can't wait!
