2022 was a blur of excitement. I officially began shooting events (primarily concerts), in March of 2022, and since then, have had the great fortune to have been provided the opportunities to photograph many more throughout the year. Through a combination of persistence and tenacity, but mostly due to the extraordinary generosity and kindness from the entertainers themselves, as well as concert promoters and venues that allowed me to practice and hone my craft. Above all, I was blessed to have made many great friendships along the way. I've come to realize that musicians are some of the most kind and accepting people out there. Combine that with a crowd of people that have paid their hard earned money to purchase a ticket with nothing but the expectation to be entertained and have a great time, and the vibe at every show I've been at, is nothing but love and joy, two things that the world can never have enough of.
Reviewing the thousands of images I was able to make this last year, that was the think I loved the most...seeing the joy in the musicians faces, as well as the joy in the fans faces, as they fed off of each other. That kind of connection is amazing to witness firsthand, and I hope that I'll be able to do so many more times this year!
Speaking of this year, I kicked it off with a road trip with my best friend (who also happens to be my wife), to Las Vegas to meet up with a couple of dear friends of ours from Lake Havasu, and to see the "Titans of Soft Rock" themselves, Yachtley Crew, perform at the Palms Resort and Casino's club KAOS. I enjoyed the show through the viewfinder of my cameras, while my wife and friends danced the night away to some of the best music around.
This must be said...photographing this show was one of the best experiences I've had! I'm not referring to the band's performance that night (which is always on point), but I'm referring to the entire process of working at the Palms shooting a concert. From check in, to packing up my gear, the experience was absolutely phenomenal. My wife and our friends, were treated like royalty, as were all of the attendee that night as far as I could see. If the opportunity ever arises to shoot another show there, I absolutely will jump on it. My hat is off to you Palms, you truly know how to host a show!
I hope you all are well, and I've posted some images from the show below for your enjoyment. Until next time!
